The Creator wants us to Drum. (God) wants us to corrupt the world with drums, dance, and chants. We've already corrupted the world with power and greed, which has gotten us nowhere. Now's the time to corrupt the world with drum, dance, and chants.----Babatunde Olatungi, Nigerian master drummer

Drumming for Peace program at Mennonite Church USA assembly, Columbus, Ohio, July 2009

In one video is the Peace Train exercise, part of the first one hour seminar "Joyful Noise" I presented at MC USA Assembly in Columbus, Ohio on July 1 & 2, 2009. This presentation involved about 40 drummers and a crowd of more than 100. The second video (on top)is from a session for youth that drew over 200 young people to the seminar. It was moved inside the convention cafeteria because it was so loud! And I guess also because the mob of youth would have blocked the hallway.

In the photos are some impromptu drumming sessions I engaged in at the convention with preschoolers and youth. The dark photo is an unrehearsed drumming performance with volunteer youth playing before an audience of 6-8,000 youth at the Columbus arena before we gave Laura Bowman our first Different Drummer Award (see http://blog.goshen.edu/mpress/2009/07/04/bowman-awarded-for-marching-to-peace-beat/)
